The Stuart S50 is an elegant model ‘Mill Engine’ of the type used to power small factories in the north of England during the mid-nineteenth century.
The kit comes with all the components turned, milled, drilled and threaded, allowing you to finish the model with no more than a set of spanners, a screwdriver, a selection of small files and a paint brush.
Condition
This fully machined kit from Stuart is complete and in excellent condition. The base has been nicely painted with very few blemishes. We have clearly check all parts, there is no play in the bearings and the flywheel is straight.
It includes a brass displacement lubricator with tee connector, original box (is tatty) and assembly instructions.
There is not a complete set of paper gaskets but these can be obtained from Stuart or use a little gasket sealant.

Cast Iron: Soleplate, cylinder, valve chest and cover, front and rear cylinder covers, flywheel.
Brass: Slide valve, piston, eccentric strap, valve operating block, glands, crosshead.
Steel: Crankshaft, crankwebb, connecting rod, eccentric sheave, eccentric rod, distance pieces, slide bars, crankpin, piston and valve rods.
Sundries: Detailed drawings, gaskets (incomplete set), fibre washer, cylinder lagging, screw pack.
Height: 6 Inches
Length: 8 1/2 inches.
Flywheel Diameter: 3 inches.
Bore: 5/8 inch.
Stroke: 1 1/4 inches.
To power the engine with live steam, connect it to one of our Model Steam Boilers. A copper steam pipe can be provided to connect to either a Stuart or one of our boilers.
NOTE: The model steam engines and boilers are NOT children’s toys and should not be assembled or operated by children unless under close supervision of an adult.
