This model four-stroke engine is inspired by some of the first internal combustion gas engines that appeared in the late 19th/early 20th century replacing more labour intensive stationary steam engines. Typically they were used in small factories, foresty and farms for pumping and powering machinery such as for milling, turning, sawing and threshing.
These early engines were fired by a "hot bulb" and used multiple fuels such as lamp paraffin oil and town gas - hence "gas engines". This model 4 stroke engine is fired by a more reliable CDI electronic spark ignition system and uses petrol (plus 2 stroke oil for lubrication).
